What a great way to see such a large part of history and the UK. Our Windsor, Stonehenge and Bath Tour was one amazing day. We had Carol as our tour guide and she was outstanding - very knowledgable of the history and myths that surrounded these amazing locations and this added a huge amount of richness to our day trip. The tour was great value for money and the coach was comfortable and everything ran to schedule. Booking online was simple and when I called up the day before my tour to reconfirm the booking everything was easy and pleasant.
Mart Lindpere, Tartumaa, Estonia 5 Star Review
What a lovely day we had with a professional and experienced guide, who also spoke fluent spanish - our coach driver was also excellent. It was also nice to know that both of them were ladies. I enjoyed the tour and learnt so much about Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and the city of Oxford - they even gave us some great information about London as we headed out and began our tour. The tour was very enjoyable, well organised and I would have no hesitation recommending the tour company to anyone.
Thomas Jones, Phuket, Thailand 5 Star Review
Everything was on time, we did have some difficulty in finding the gate at Victoria Bus Station. There was adequate time given at all the sites and our guide was very knowledgable.

What a great day! Simply awesome! We had a great ride on the coach, the driver was very friendly and had excellent people skills - he was very clear about what to expect and the procedures for the day. We had just the right amount of time at Stonehenge. Really just wanted to say thank you for making this very special experience easily available to us.

A brief history of Stonehenge

Photos of Stonehenge Every year hundreds of thousands of people take one of the London to Stonehenge Day Tours, it is one of the most magnificent and historically significant monuments in the UK. The Stonehenge that you see today, is a timeless monument and work on it was finished over 3,500 years ago after approximately 1,500 years of being built.

Initially, all that lay there was a ditch, and then came about the Aubrey Holes in 3100BC - these are just circular pits that formed a larger circle and recent investigations have found the remains of human bones buried there, but many still believe that it was part of a religious ceremony and not for graves. After this stage of building had been completed, it does appear that work stopped for 1000 years and then it started again.

This next stage, was the most productive! It began in 2150 BC when 82 Stones were transported from the Preseli Mountains (Wales) to where they reside today! That is quite a journey for 82 Stones that each weigh approximately 4 tonnes! How were they transported you may well ask? Well that is something that you will have to find out from your tour guide, and then after they have given you far more information you can make your own assumptions as to what Stonehenge is really all about!
